Zorba's Greek Restaurant
This family-run business has been in existence for some eight years and is the only Greek restaurant in Port Elizabeth. The restaurant recently relocated from Parliament Street to the beachfront and now enjoys breathtaking views of the famous Kings Beach. A spacious interior offers separate smoking and non smoking sections, a small balcony for intimate al fresco dining and a fully licensed bar.

Mad Hatters
From the outside this gracious old building dating back to the early 1900’s looks like any of the other well-preserved historical buildings in Grahamstown, but step across the threshold and you are in for a big surprise. The unique interior is a riot of colour from the bright lime green furniture to the huge Alice and Wonderland murals which cover the walls. Fully licensed, the attractive yellow-wood and Oregon pine bar, an old fashioned fireplace, (which is put to good use in the chilly winter months) and wooden floors add character and contrast to the vibrant interior.

Elephant Walk
After successfully running Elephant Walk in the city centre for many years, owner Nadia Damseaux decided to re-locate to the country. After having found an idyllic two hectares of land with wonderful indigenous plant life, she oversaw the building of the restaurant together with good friend Natalie Dil, and the new Elephant Walk opened its doors in December 1977. The property also houses a very successful farmstall which offers a wide variety of crafts from clothing to pottery, locally produced organic fruit and vegetables, as well as preserves, biscuits and deli items.

The Butcher's Block
The Butcher's Block is the latest edition to the Port Elizabeth restaurant scene, and is performing extremely well alongside the older, more established haunts of the locals. Owner James McKenzie opened his first establishment in 1970 and besides being well known in the industry, has certainly put together a winning formula for The Butcher's Block. Situated in an old converted house in Newton Park, the restaurant is fortunate enough to have plenty of secure parking at the back of the building, and the walled garden area has been converted into a large patio complete with tables, umbrellas and shady trees. There is also an attractive covered wooden deck which overlooks the patio, which provides sheltered al fresco dining on windy days or cool summer evenings.

137 High Street
Behind the attractive façade of this traditional old building built in 1842, Tracy Mills successfully runs a guest house, restaurant and interior shop, which ensures that 137 High Street certainly receives its fair share of visitors to Grahamstown. The stylish interior of the restaurant blends just the right degree of sophistication with old world charm, to allow both locals and visitors to feel equally relaxed in this soothing environment.

De Viswijf
De Viswijf emerged from an old fish factory building, as a result of the foresight of owners Suzette and Ernie Blignault who saw the potential in the neglected building for a successful restaurant. The fishermen still bring in their boats and unload their fish just below the restaurant windows, so when De Viswijf boasts about their fish being the freshest in town you can be assured that this is no exaggeration. A recent addition to the restaurant is the large patio area with covered roof and practical blinds which are put to good use in inclement weather. The patio tables offer beautiful sea views in close proximity to the famous Kitchen Windows surfing spot.

Aviemore
Situated in the historical heart of Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, gateway to the Garden Route, you will find a charming Victorian-style double story home built in 1875, housing this intimate 40-seater restaurant. It has two dining areas, often used for private dining by small and larger parties. An outside courtyard area provides a wonderful opportunity for relaxed al fresco dining.

Blue Lagoon Hotel & Conference Centre
Overlooking the site where the Nahoon River meets the warm Indian Ocean, the Blue Lagoon Hotel lies nestled in indigenous, sub-tropical foliage. The position of the hotel is superb, and both restaurants are fortunate to enjoy the same stunning views of the river mouth.

Bay Cafe & Plate
Situated on an historic site which once housed the old Clarendon Hotel, this venue offers superb views of Algoa Bay and much to please the palate. Chef/patron Alan Fryer has a long history of involvement in the Port Elizabeth restaurant business, and has now focused his talents on putting the Bay Café & Plate firmly on the map as the best venue in town for gourmet food lovers. Diners can alternate between the Bistro-style Café and the more formal Plate depending on their mood.
